People are finding ways of saving each and every penny, at the pumps, grocery and many other expenses are being cut down to allow people to survive the financial crisis and even the depression the US is currently in. Now getting a vehicle with a V10 or V8 that has nothing to do with economy or lessening your carbon footprint might be in the blood of most Americans but that is all changing due to the high gas prices. Many Americans are now turning to public transport and carpooling to reduce their fuel expenses and many are getting smaller more efficient cars.

Coming short of acquiring a hybrid, people are choosing more efficient cars that are suited for their daily use and the gas guzzlers of tomorrow are retired indefinitely to the garage for another day (as if the prices of gas would still go down). Insurance companies in efforts to reduce costs are also offering discounts for hybrids and more efficient vehicles while jacking up premium costs for gas guzzlers to encourage more to change their driving habits.

Most are considering increasing premiums if they have not already done so for they are directly tied to the auto industry that if it was to fail, so would they. So the next time you go to the dealer for a car, choose wisely so you save not only on gas but on your premiums as well.
